SACRAMENTO – In response to the Assembly Committee on Judiciary holding AB 919, the Stable Homes Act, Assemblymember Kalra (D-San Jose) and bill sponsors reiterate significance of this policy and commit to moving it forward:
SACRAMENTO – Yesterday, AB 1082, authored by Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José), passed the Assembly Transportation Committee. AB 1082 will eliminate the authority to tow or immobilize a vehicle for five or more unpaid parking citations and increase the number of unpaid tickets that prevent people from renewing their vehicle registration from one to six.
SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) was appointed Chair of the new Assembly Select Committee on the Future of Work and Workers by Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood).
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José), with bill sponsor, Debt Free Justice California (DFJC), introduced AB 1266, to eliminate the use of bench warrants for minor infractions.
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) introduced AB 919, the Stable Homes Act, to give tenants, local public agencies, and mission-driven nonprofits a first opportunity to purchase or match an offer on rental housing properties when owners choose to put them up for sale.
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José), with bill sponsor, Disability Rights California, introduced AB 486, to provide a more consistent framework for the appeals process across the most serious regulatory citations for long-term care facilities in California.
SACRAMENTO – The California Legislative Progressive Caucus re-elected Assemblymember Ash Kalra to serve as Chair. He is joined by Vice Chairs, Assemblymembers Wendy Carrillo and Alex Lee.
SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) introduced AB 57 to establish the California Pocket Forest Initiative, a pilot program that would authorize CAL FIRE to provide demonstration grants for pocket forests to public and nonprofit entities.
SACRAMENTO – Today, Governor Newsom signed AB 655, the California Law Enforcement Accountability (CLEAR) Act, authored by Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) and sponsored by San Jose State University Human Rights Institute (SJSU HRI) and California Faculty Association (CFA).
SACRAMENTO–Yesterday, AB 256, the California Racial Justice Act for All, was signed by Governor Newsom. AB 256 will allow persons with convictions or judgements prior to January 1, 2021 to petition the court and seek relief if racial bias was proven to be present in their case.
