(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) wrote Assembly Bill AB 250, the Safe Consumer Lending Act, to protect California families from abusive high-cost installment loans and put a cap on such predatory loans. “This is not just a policy issue, this is a moral issue,” said Assemblymember Kalra. “Make no mistake, predatory lenders do not just use exorbitant interest rates to entrap borrowers, they use lending tactics to mislead, misrepresent, and ultimately penalize impoverished communities.”
