San Jose Assemblymember Ash Kalra Releases Statement in Wake of Mass Shooting

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose), former member and Chair of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board, released the following statement in response to the shooting that took place Wednesday morning at a VTA Railyard in Downtown San Jose:

“The tragedy that took place yesterday morning has devastated our community. For the families, friends, and colleagues of the nine victims, whose lives are now forever changed, I offer my deepest condolences. Today, on my request, the California State Assembly held a moment of silence in honor of the victims. No one should risk losing their life from senseless gun violence just by showing up to work, going to school, or visiting a store. We must provide more than thoughts and prayers; we must act to curb gun violence now.”
