SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose), released the following statement in response to the Governor’s release of the May Revision:
“I commend Governor Newsom for centering California’s values in the May Revision. From increasing access to healthcare and outdoor spaces, to improving conditions for incarcerated individuals, persons experiencing homelessness, and seniors, these investments in our vulnerable communities will truly help us build back better.
“As the Chair of the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee, I am heartened to see increased funding for job skills training, industry partnerships, and programs that strengthen economic resilience. The $1.1 billion dollar jobs package is also a reflection of the recommendations of the Future of Work Commission that centered on creating quality jobs for all workers in this state. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues in the Legislature to build upon this vital commitment to working families.
“An equitable recovery can only be achieved with continued dedication to uplifting the most vulnerable among us and establishing a strong safety net for all. The pandemic has exposed many gaps in our economy and society; the May Revision will help secure the funding needed to further address them.”
