(SACRAMENTO) - Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) was sworn in as the Assemblymember for the 27th Assembly District.
Kalra previously represented the 2nd District on the San Jose City Council; the first Indian American to be elected to that body. Before serving on the city council, Ash spent 11 years as an attorney in the Santa Clara Public Defender’s Office.
The 27th Assembly District is comprised of portions of the city of San Jose.
The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol.
