SACRAMENTO – With SB 770 by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) advancing to the Assembly and scheduled to be heard in Assembly Health Committee tomorrow, Tuesday, June 27th, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) releases the following statement announcing his opposition to the bill:

 

Assemblymember Kalra's Bill to End Poverty Tows Advances to Appropriations Committee

SACRAMENTO – Yesterday, AB 1082, authored by Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José), passed the Assembly Transportation Committee. AB 1082 will eliminate the authority to tow or immobilize a vehicle for five or more unpaid parking citations and increase the number of unpaid tickets that prevent people from renewing their vehicle registration from one to six.

Assemblymember Kalra Appointed to Chair Select Committee on the Future of Work and Workers

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) was appointed Chair of the new Assembly Select Committee on the Future of Work and Workers by Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood).

AB 919 will help keep families in their homes and preserve affordable housing

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) introduced AB 919, the Stable Homes Act, to give tenants, local public agencies, and mission-driven nonprofits a first opportunity to purchase or match an offer on rental housing properties when owners choose to put them up for sale.
