SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) and Audubon California celebrate the signing of AB 454, which will reinstate and make permanent the California Migratory Bird Protection Act.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) and the bill’s sponsors, Sunita Jain Anti-Trafficking Initiative, celebrate Governor Gavin Newsom’s signing of AB 1362 (Kalra), the Human Trafficking Prevention and Protection Act.

SACRAMENTO – AB 268, to designate Diwali as an official state holiday, successfully passed both houses of the legislature. The bill awaits final action by Governor Newsom. Diwali is the most celebrated festival and culturally significant day for Indian Americans, the greater South Asian diaspora, and Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains of all ethnic backgrounds.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San José) presented ACR 71, to designate the portion of State Route 101 in the County of Santa Clara from Story Road to the junction with State Highway Route 280 and State Highway Route 680 as the Little Saigon Freeway. ACR 71 was approved by the Assembly with bipartisan support and 66 coauthors.
