Assemblymember Chu Discusses Educational Equity and Access in Joint Informational Hearing

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – On Monday, March 25, 2019, beginning at 3:00 pm Assemblymember Kansen Chu (D-Milpitas), Chair of the Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism & Internet Media and Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), Chair of the Higher Education Committee is hosting a Joint Oversight Hearing on gender equality in education.

The hearing will focus on the intersection, overlap and gaps if any between the Federal Title IX and the California Education Code Sex Equity in Education Laws in fulfilling their shared goal of achieving equal access in all aspects of education regardless of gender.  This hearing will feature representatives from the State Attorney General’s Office, as well as academic and legal experts in gender equity in education and sports.
