(MILPITAS, CA) - Yesterday, Assemblymember Kansen Chu hosted his 4th Annual Community Heroes Event to recognize individuals who have dedicated much time and efforts to keep their community safe, clean, diverse and a great place to live. The community heroes comprised of local elected officials, organizations, students and other residents. They were all selected through a nomination process by others living in the district. Each of those individuals was recognized for their contribution and passion for community service.
It is the 4th annual event since Assemblymember Chu took office as a California Assemblymember representing the 25th district. However, it is a tradition that the Assemblymember started years ago as San Jose City Council.
“The annual Community Heroes Event is my way honoring and showing the people I serve how much I appreciate their contribution and dedication,” said Assemblymember Kansen Chu (Milpitas, D). “All 95 honorees were recognized because of what they’ve done for their friends, neighbors, family, and oftentimes, total strangers. None of these community heroes expected anything in return for their good deeds and this is why they deserve the honor even more. I am humbled by the large turnout and I would like to thank everyone who nominated community heroes, attended to support honorees and finally, the heroes who make our community a better place through their work.”
This year’s Community Heroes Event took place at the India Community Center, which provides social, cultural, educational, professional and recreational programs as well as health, legal, and senior services.
