Join me at the California State Parks Foundation 19th annual Earth Day restoration and cleanup events at Henry Coe State Park. This is a statewide event hosted at 41 state parks around California and is expected to draw more than 4,000 volunteers to complete various environmental improvement projects.

Henry W. Coe State Park
Saturday, April 22
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It is anticipated that more than 80 volunteers at Henry Coe will work at three different sites within the park to assist with various maintenance projects including trail maintenance, campsite improvement, weed management and barbed wire fence installation around the Historic Windmill.

Each year, this great event depends on the work of generous volunteers as California state parks struggle to contend with a maintenance backlog estimated at over $1 billion. This Earth Day program effectively conserves our natural resources, educates the public about the benefits of a healthy environment and encourages them to support our parks year-round. Come out to enjoy, support and protect the marvelous and natural beauty of our great state!

California State Assemblymember Kansen Chu will host a joint press conference along with Rep. Ro Khanna, Mayors Lily Mei and Alan Nagy on Friday, April 7th with LIFE ElderCare to understand the immediate impact of the anticipated 17.9% budget cut within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where the Older Americans Act funding resides. Meals on Wheels is a vital service that provides the delivery of social and nutrition services to seniors who can no longer prepare a healthy meal. We must stand together to ensure this critical safety net continues to be provided for our seniors.
